Government Agencies and Departments of all types and sizes, including Federal, State and Local Government entities have similar needs as Industry’s needs. In many ways, these organizations’ needs are more urgent and intense, with more stringent requirements. And in many ways the problems they face are larger and have more far reaching consequences. E-ISG understands the nature of these needs, and can serve Government clients in ways to achieve the kinds of results that are required.

We serve Government entities by identifying, tracking and managing tangible assets, by providing Continuity of Operations Planning, and by ensuring the highest degree of data integrity.

Many of our clients are Government Agencies and Departments that had previously failed to track tangible assets, often resulting in a poor understanding of them. This frequently resulted in duplicative and costly purchases, and often and inefficient use of available (but unidentified and untracked) resources. We serve these clients by helping them to get a full understanding of these assets. In far too many cases, Government entities have good records on the initial purchase of tangible assets, but no understanding of their present status or location.

This problem is profound for Government entities and results in many inefficiencies and vulnerabilities. For example, just in the area of Information technology alone, many new computers are purchased needlessly because unused but capable computers are available but unknown as available. And furthermore, many older systems that are vulnerable to attack from viruses, etc., are untracked, yet connected to Government networks.

This situation is far from limited to Information Technology. For example, a great amount of new office furniture is purchased and leased by Government Agencies without realizing that large amounts of furniture in very useable condition is either stored in warehouses or remaining in vacated office space. Simply avoiding the cost of new furniture by re-using what the Government already owns or is leasing can amount to great savings, and this savings can be diverted for mission-critical applications. But only a thorough understanding of these kinds of assets by means of asset tracking can achieve this kind of results.

Of course all Government entities are required to have Continuity of Operations or Disaster Recovery plans. Not having them leaves them at great risk in the event of any form of disruption caused by either natural or man-made event. We serve these clients by developing, enhancing and auditing these plans to ensure that all aspects of their operations are recoverable in the event of a business disruption.

In particular, the least implemented task of a Disaster Recovery Plan is the testing or auditing of the Plan. And the testing and auditing of the plan by an independent third-party is vital to ensure successful recovery from a disruption following the Plan. Such an audit validates the completeness of the Plan, and determines how the plan would be interpreted and executed by those who would be assigned to implement it in times of crisis. It even can and should examine the Plan using a “missing-man” test, that examines what would happen if individuals assigned to perform a task in the Plan become unavailable.

Government Agencies and Departments also have mailing lists of constituents and clients that must be maintained with accuracy and integrity. Among the many reasons for ensuring the accuracy of this kind of data is to comply with various regulations, such as the CAN-SPAM Act, and to help ensure that communications with its clients is kept confidential and tailored. The entire e-Government initiative is meant to improve the way Government is responsive to its citizens. E-ISG serves Government clients by providing the tools and services to ensure that mailing lists are accurate, and have a high degree of data integrity.
