Real Time Location Devices
The Room Locator is an IR (infrared) signaling unit used with IR-enabled tags to provide a method of locating tagged assets. Each Room Locator transmits an infrared pulse pattern containing a unique 3-digit location code (up to 495 programmable settings). The strength of the IR transmissions can be manually adjusted, with typical coverage perimeters measuring 10 meters. Coverage zones are limited by solid physical structures such as walls, however IR transmits easily within line-of-site, and signal bouncing effectively floods the entire room with the location code. IR-enabled tags monitor their environment for incoming IR signals and periodically report both their own unique ID and the applicable IR location code. Tag transmissions can be processed in real-time to quickly locate and identify tagged assets or personnel with room-level accuracy.

With simple installation, modular design and low price, Room Locators provide an economical solution to a wide variety of asset tracking problems. Large populations of tags can be monitored using a single reader. Since the location of tagged assets is determined via IR status reports, there is no need for deploying multiple overlapping readers, signal strength calculations, or complicated triangulation algorithms.
A swivel-head mounting bracket is included that allows the unit to pivot. Two screws attach the mounting bracket to the wall, and then the Room Locator snaps on to the bracket without any additional connectors
