The Tag Collection Utility 1.0 is a Windows-based software tool that works in conjunction with the M220 Mobile Reader to inventory tagged assets. In standalone Tag Collection Mode, the M220 Mobile Reader can record and save more than 4000 unique M100-series tag IDs. The Tag Collection Utility can then be used to download this inventory data to a PC.
The M220 Mobile Reader and Tag Collection Utility can be used to aid in the discovery and management of assets in areas beyond the perimeter of a fixed reader infrastructure. It can also serve as a complimentary search device within a dedicated, multi-zonal system featuring RF Code fixed read
The Tag Collection Utility enables a wide variety of mobile asset tracking applications. For example, with the Tag Collection Utility the M220 Mobile Reader could be:
- harnessed to a cleaning cart to provide a nightly inventory of all tagged assets in the office space
- walked around the perimeter of a rental yard to inventory the tagged equipment available for rent
- mounted on the security cart to automatically inventory every tagged vehicle in the fleet service yard
- clipped to the guard’s belt to automatically inventory every tagged asset on the security route
Once asset tag data is collected, the list of observed tagged assets could be:
- reconciled against the previous inventory to identify day-to-day changes
- reconciled against the planned route sequence to verify the guards’ diligence in making rounds
